Since 2017 we have an organic garden based on regenerative and permanent agriculture.
The project was born from the need to provide our kitchen with the freshest products, but also with the aim of promoting small-scale agriculture in the Los Lagos Region. Sadly, today almost all fruits and vegetables are brought from the central area of the country and travel more than a thousand kilometers to reach the different points of sale.
The distribution of the garden was designed with the intention that the farm works under the same structure at least the next 100 or 200 years. Each element of the design plays a role in this permanence.
The fruit trees, shrubs and native trees, which will be developed little by little and will fulfill multiple functions, such as food, windbreaks and ecosystem for beneficial insects.
The intensive bio garden has permanent beds that are each year more fertile. In these, fruits and vegetables are planted and harvested for our kitchen, and we hope that in the near future they may also be available to the community.
During the 2017-2018 season we were able to supply more than 30% of the products in our kitchen. This year, with our own compost and natural fertilizers (prepared by us), we hope to exceed 70%.
During 2018-2019 we hope to have colonies of bees and add 50 free hens to the family (to get to have 80).
